The CBSE has officially released the complete date sheet for the Class 10 Board Exams 2026, including the schedules for both Term 1 and Term 2. This marks a significant new structure where students will get two attempts within the same academic year, aiming to ease academic stress and improve performance opportunities.
Dual-Exam System Introduced
In a major policy update, the Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct two board examinations for Class 10 in 2026. Term 1 (Exam 1) will be held in February–March, while Term 2 (Exam 2) is scheduled for May–June. This dual-exam system is designed to minimize academic pressure and ensure students who do not excel in the first attempt can try again within the same session.
Advance Announcement for Academic Planning
The CBSE has published the detailed timetable almost five months ahead—146 days before the examinations start. For 2026, the Class 10 board exams will begin on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, and will conclude on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Scheduling information is publicly available, providing ample time for schools, students, and guardians to plan their study and revision timetables.
Key Dates and Subjects
Term 1 is set to cover all 204 subjects offered by CBSE for secondary students. The exams will be conducted in a single morning shift, starting at 10:30 am and ending at 1:30 pm for most major papers. Students should consult the official board schedule for subject-wise details. Notable core subjects like Mathematics, English, Science, Social Science, and Hindi are spaced out to allow recovery and focused exam preparation between major papers.

Benefits of the Two-Exam Format
The introduction of two sets of exams aims to lessen the high stakes often associated with board exams. The new format means students who are unable to perform well in February–March have another chance in May–June, without having to wait an entire academic year. This not only helps reduce anxiety, but it also enables students to showcase consistent academic competence.
Estimated Student Participation
CBSE anticipates that about 45 lakh students will appear for the 2026 board examinations across both Class 10 and Class 12. This large candidate pool underscores the importance of the new exam structure and necessitates careful organization at thousands of exam centers nationwide.
How to Access the Full Date Sheet
The complete and detailed date sheet for both Term 1 and Term 2 is officially available on the CBSE’s website, cbse.gov.in. Students can also find easy access through other education portals and news websites. The advance availability of the schedule is expected to be especially helpful for students aiming at strategic preparation and time management.
With this proactive timeline and the new dual-exam system, the CBSE aims to support a smoother transition and empower students to approach the board exams with confidence and flexibility.
