Akshay Kumar’s latest film Bhooth Bangla has wrapped up its first week with strong numbers. The horror-comedy pulled in Rs 135 crore worldwide, showing fans love the mix of scares and laughs. That’s across thousands of shows—over 82,000 in India—with steady footfalls of 45 lakh people. The film held up well on weekdays, dropping just 16% on Thursday from Wednesday.

Priyadarshan and Akshay team up after 14 years, bringing back their comedy magic from hits like Hera PheriBhooth Bangla mixes ghost scares with slapstick humor, appealing to families and fans. Overseas markets, especially Gulf and North America, loved it, contributing nearly 25% of the total.

It beat lifetime hauls of Munjya (Rs 132 crore), Bhediya (Rs 69 crore), and even Akshay’s Bad Newz (Rs 116 crore). For Akshay, after some recent flops, Bhooth Bangla feels like a comeback. Strong word-of-mouth kept theaters busy, with occupancy around 13% on Day 7 across 10,500 shows.

Week 1 at Rs 135 crore sets Bhooth Bangla as the third highest Hindi grosser this year. Second week will test if it holds against new releases. Akshay thanked fans on social media, calling it a “spooky success.” If it crosses Rs 150 crore soon, expect blockbuster talk.
