Sold Out Everywhere: Gopal Madhavan Bhagyoday Becomes India’s Most Wanted Book

A book titled Bhagyoday is taking India by storm. From metro cities to small towns, readers everywhere are hunting for a copy—but bookstores simply can’t keep it on their shelves. Interestingly, a handful of airport bookshops still have stock, though they’re charging nearly five times the cover price, which has only fueled the buzz around it.

The book’s author, Tian Ming, is known as “China’s luckiest man,” and his story is nothing short of remarkable. Born to a poor farming family, he lost his mother early in life and was placed in a boarding school. At just 15, he ran away from home and made his way to the Wudang Mountains, where he studied the ancient art of Feng Shui under a spiritual master.

That decision changed everything. By age 21, Tian Ming had reportedly won 16 lottery draws, making him one of the youngest millionaires in China. Naturally, people became fascinated with how he did it.

He first published his book in Chinese back in 1996, laying out the methods he credited for his extraordinary fortune. In 2022, the book was translated into several languages—Hindi, English, French, and Spanish among them—introducing readers worldwide to his ideas on using Feng Shui to invite good luck into everyday life. In India, this translated edition goes by the name “Bhagyoday.”

Adding to its popularity, the book has recently been spotted with several Bollywood, Hollywood, and Tollywood celebrities, sparking even more conversation. Social media is now flooded with people discussing it and wondering what all the excitement is about.

Fact or hype, one thing’s for sure: Bhagyoday has become the book everyone’s chasing—and almost no one can find.
